Why replace missing teeth ?

Losing one or more of your teeth creates a gap in your smile, affects your ability to chew properly, and can alter your diet and nutrition. In addition to these serious issues, tooth loss also causes bone loss. When a tooth is lost, the jawbone beneath it shrinks from lack of stimulation. Not only does losing teeth affect your smile, it also changes the shape of your face causing you to look prematurely aged.

Why choose dental implants ?

Dental bridges and dentures address the short-term cosmetic problem of missing teeth but do nothing to stop bone loss. Crown & bridge dentistry requires grinding down healthy teeth leaving them at much greater risk for cavities and tooth failure. Bridges do not stop bone loss. Dentures become uncomfortable and unstable over time as the jawbone shrinks causing eating and speech problems.

Dental Implants-The best option to replace a missing tooth

With dental implants, healthy teeth are not compromised. Dental implants, like natural teeth, stimulate the jaw and stop bone loss. Leading dental organizations recognize dental implants as the standard of care for tooth replacement. Dental implants are lightweight, durable, biocompatible and made from titanium. They bond with healthy bone and provide permanent support for dental crowns and dentures. Dental implants look and feel like natural teeth and can last a lifetime. However they are not the simplest option.

Placing an artificial material in ones jaw bone successfully requires :

A) Exemplenary hygiene and sterilization standards-. All measures are taken to replicate the sterile environment of a medical operation theatre (OT) of a hospital

B) Extensive treatment planning- Dental Implant placement involves planning not only the size and location of the dental implant but also the height, width and density of the bone. The proximity of adjacent vital structures like the Maxillary sinus, Nerves and Blood vessels, Adjacent tooth roots, Base of the mandible etc need to be carefully assessed. Dental Implant treatment planning involves study of Models of the teeth and jaws, Diagnostic mock set ups, Intra oral and extra oral calibrated X-rays and in many cases even CT scans of the skull.

C) Undertaking complex adjunct procedures like the Indirect Sinus Lift, Direct Sinus Lift, Bone Graft procedures involving membrane placements, Block grafts, Ridge Augmentation, without which, in many instances the positioning of the Dental Implant and consequently the success, may have to be compromised.

D) Use of State of the art materials and equipment, having an excellent track record over a long period of time. Presently this clinic uses the Biohorizon Dental Implant systems (USA).
